From big to small
small things, big impact:
post-translationally modified peptides in plants
Plant peptides share several similarities with classical hormones, though their significance was long underestimated. Small post-translationally modified peptides (SPMPs) originate from pre-pro-proteins and undergo proteolytic processing and further modifications like tyrosine sulfation, proline hydroxylation, and O-glycosylation. However, questions remain: how do plant cells manage peptide production? Why are so many modifications needed? Do these steps occur randomly or in order? In this lecture I will address these questions in the context of plant growth, development and stress responses.
Zu dieser Antrittsvorlesung im Rahmen des Habilitationsverfahrens mit Diskussion und anschließendem Umtrunk laden wir Sie herzlich ein.
