The Faculty Board of Directors manages the Faculty and deals with all matters concerning the Faculty. The Board is elected by the Faculty Council for a term of office of four years and is made up of the Dean, the Vice Deans, and the Dean of Studies.
The Dean represents the Faculty within and outside of the university. He is the chair of the Faculty Board, the Faculty Council, and the Habilitation Committee of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The Dean’s deputy is the first Vice Dean. The Dean is elected by the Faculty Council on the proposal of the President, and the Vice Deans are elected by the Faculty Council on the proposal of the Dean, each for a four-year term.
The Vice Dean of Research represents the Faculty of Natural Sciences in all matters concerning research. Among other things, she is a member of the Senate Committee on Research and Chair of the Large Equipment Committee, as well as a member of the Faculty Board.
The Dean of Studies is a member of the Faculty Board and Chair of the Commission for Study Affairs for the programs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His central task is to ensure that studies and teaching are carried out properly. In addition, the Dean of Studies serves as the contact point for complaints from the faculty’s students. In fulfilling his duties, the Dean of Studies is assisted by program supervisors, subject coordinators, and the program coordinators.
